BBC Children in Need Northern Ireland Voluntary Advisory Committee
BBC Children in Need is looking for new members to join our Northern Ireland Voluntary Advisory Committee. We would welcome applications from those who share our commitment to support children and young people across Northern Ireland to be safe, happy, secure, and provided with the opportunities they need to reach their potential.
What do we do?
We support children and young people affected by a whole range of disadvantages such as poverty, disability, illness, distress or trauma. Our aim is to achieve positive impact with and for children and young people who experience disadvantage.
To do this, we raise money both throughout the year and in our annual November appeal. Through this we are able to fund local charities and projects which help remove the barriers that face children and young people and enable them to thrive.
How can you help?
While we want to act quickly to meet need and deliver important outcomes for children and young people, we know we can do this best when our decisions are well informed. Along with data, information and evidence of need, the Northern Ireland Advisory Committee is a key part in helping us make grants that put our resources to work where they’re needed most.
We highly value the benefits of having different points of view and experiences on our Advisory Committee and welcome applications from everyone irrespective of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, faith and religion, disability and age. We would especially welcome applications from those with experience of supporting children and young people from: Black, Asian, and ethnic minority communities, child health, early years, and those with a disability.
We would also encourage applications from young adults or individuals who may have benefited from the support of one of the projects we have funded.
Although this is an unpaid role, appropriate support will be offered to enable the full participation of all successful applicants.
